There are many big events in our lives.  Some are personal and family type of events.  While others are more business and could be related to our company and the work we do.  One thing for certain is that many of these events require a photographer. So in this article we are going to discuss a couple of things to make sure that you definitely get the most out of the photographer.

First of all if it is a big event like a wedding you definitely want to get the most out of your photographer.  After all you have given them the job of capturing one of your most important moments in life.  As a San Diego wedding photographer I am not against getting suggestions from my clients.  Things like the type of photos you want taken. These are things that will definitely help the photographer to know how to do a better job.

Well there are actually other events such as graduations or other events in the lives of your children. Now all of them do not need a professional photographer but some can definitely use them.  As a San Diego photographer I have done all kinds of events for parents. When you do hire a professional photographer for something like a graduation then let them know how you want the photos done.  In other words if you want to capture all the moments like a photo story let them know. This surely helps them focus on the important shots for you.

Then of course there are your standard portrait type of photos. Things like family pictures fall into this category. Here is where you definitely have to let them know how you want the photos taken.  Because if you don’t they will take the shots they think works rather then what you want.  So I make it a point in my San Diego event photography service to get their opinion.

When hiring a photographer if you do these things you will definitely get the most out of your hired photographer.

One of the most common ways to take a picture is a portrait.  Portraits are when you have the subject framed in a shot.  Since it is so common a lot of times you don’t see a variety.  But if you can be a little creative you can take some shots that make them different. This article’s goal is to have you learn some ways that you can make an average photo better.

First thing you will want is maybe having the perspective of the shot from a different angle. What I am referring to is to have the photo taken in a different way not the normal way people would do it.You can make where the picture is coming from different.  This is helpful in my San Diego wedding photographer business.People are so familiar with all the standard photos and poses that when you do something different by changing it up a little bit it makes a world of difference.Take some photos you take from a higher angle.Or you can take a photograph that is common and make it different by shooting it from the ground looking up.it can make such a difference in the way the picture looks.

Another good tip to do with photographs is to play with the eyes.  Most photos are taken with the subject looking into the camera. But where the subject’s eyes are will really impact the look of the photo. What you could do differently is having the subject look off camera.  This really gives the photo a different look and feel to it. Doing a lot of San Diego event photography I have my subjects do this all the time.

Another great tip you can implement is having your subject look at an object within the picture. This is so effective if your goal is to advertise something. You can have the product you are promoting be the thing the subject is looking at.  This is a trick that I do a lot as a San Diego corporate photographer.  It really helps focus the attention on the product.

So those were some ways that you can take a photo that people are used to one way and changing it for the better.

People love video cameras nowadays.Video camera has taken over those areas where cameras once dominated. But that does not imply that photography is a dying art.On the contrary, photography is still much alive amongst people and is still a very popular hobby for most. Photography is not dead because what you can capture with still photos can be an art.You can really capture great moments and emotions with photos. So here are some tips in capturing your very own great photographs.

First of all you want to be able to anticipate. In taking candid shots, for example, anticipation is the key. That has been one of the secrets of taking great photographs as a San Diego photographer.  Because when you know how to anticipate then you can be more proactive rather than reactive. What I mean is that instead of reacting to the events happening around you would instead be more involved in the happenings.Because reacting might make you miss taking shots of it.You can take great photos if you would know how to anticipate.

Right posotioning is another thing you must do and learn. What I mean by that is if you are taking pictures of big scenes you need to be in a good position.  As a San Diego wedding photographer you have to always be in a good position. Because if you are not you can miss some great shots.People may block your subjects.Or you can also have objects block your view.Finding a great position would lead to great shots.

Lastly, you should know the schedule of the events that would happen.  This has been key in my San Diego event photography business.  Because when you know what the schedule of events are you can be ready to take your photos.Because if you do not know what is going to happen next you might miss great shots.

So those are a couple of tips to taking better photos. If you can notice these tips are not leaning on the technical side of taking photos. They are more involved in the artistic side of taking photos.

When you are asked to be the one to take photos of the wedding is a huge responsibility. If you are doing it as a favor, or if you are doing it as your profession, following these 5 tips will help you do the job right.

This tips are coming from first hand experience as a San Diego wedding photographer. You could be a seasoned pro, or you could be an amateur, but by following these tips, you will do the job smoothly without second guessing yourself.  You will be fully prepared for whatever may come.

Our first tip is pretty simple and that is to have the couple and their families make a list for you of shots they want to take.  When the day is hectic and chaotic, this will help immensely when you are trying to get family and group shots later on in the day.You will love how you can just go through your list and get all the shots you want without leaving anything out.

The second tip on our list is to not delete any shots.  In this day and age of digital cameras, most photographers use them.Great as they are, they might tempt you to delete a shot they may like that you don’t since it is so easy to do.Don’t bother even peeking at the previews.  What makes a great shot in your mind could differ widely that what makes a great shot in the couples minds. You never know, they might like all those so called un “professional shots.

The third tip to make sure you do is taking candid shots.A good photographer isn’t one who just takes the standard basic shots, like family shots, typical wedding shots, or whatever is the usual.  But they will also try and capture the emotions of the day through the shots of all the people that were there.  And that includes some of the things that could go wrong, like a flower girl not making it all the way to the front, or the ring bearer dropping the rings.  Every shot counts.

The fourth piece of advice is make sure you have back up equipment.Do you even want to think of the horror of not being able to take any more shots of the wedding because of a broken camera.Plan for the worst that could go wrong.By being ready with extra equipment, you will avoid the uncomfortable time of not being able to take any more pictures of the wedding day with a broken camera.

Finally, you have to be prepared for the lighting and you do that by practicing. Don’t get thrown a curveball by the different lighting conditions whether inside the church or outside, practice and you will be prepared. Go see the locations and scout it out for the big day, by finding the best places to shoot as well as studying the lighting needs.

Following these 5 great tips will help you greatly on that special day.  It will prepare you for whatever might go wrong, it will prepare you for capturing what goes right, and it will prepare you to help contribute to this wonderful day by being the best photographer you can be.  Take it from my years of experience as a San Diego photographer.
